MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota: General Label Inc., a locally owned and operated print shop that specializes in materials converting and high-tech printing solutions, has recently completed its Phase 2 Audit and been approved for ISO 9001:2015 certification by the International Organization for Standardization. This certification confirms that General Label meets 131 worldwide requirements that define a strong quality management system and will benefit the company as it continues expanding into new marketplaces.
Founded in 1982 as a small local print shop, General Label Inc. quickly evolved into an innovative and well-respected leader in the high-tech printing industry. Today, the Minneapolis company employs more than 50 people and specializes in the manufacturing of membrane switches, graphic overlays, material conversion, labels, decals, and more. Dedicated to quality, ceaseless innovation, and respect for the planet, General Label is an in-demand manufacturing company that keeps its finger on the pulse of cutting-edge printing technology.
For Mike Baskfield, the president of General Label, getting the ISO 9001:2015 certification was a logical next step for the company. “It’s an important certification in manufacturing,” he says. “It not only shows the world that General Label meets international manufacturing standards but also helps us to guarantee a safe and efficient work environment every single day. It’s a win-win.”
But the ISO 9001:2015 is not an easy certification to achieve. To be certified, General Label had to demonstrate the specific processes, procedures, and activities it’s created, implemented, and maintained over the years to ensure a strong quality management system. The company is pleased to have received its temporary certification letter and expects to have its formal certification in hand within the next month. The certification will last for up to three years.
